TÜBA will hold a workshop in Ankara on February 28, 2026, as the first step of its editorial project titled "Babur Shah and His Legacy." The workshop, commemorating the 500th anniversary of Babur’s accession to power in 1526, will examine the cultural and historical legacy of the Mughal Empire. The program will encompass fields such as politics, state administration, foreign policy, history, economy, science, and art.
Academics from Turkey and abroad will participate in the workshop to investigate Babur’s foundational role. The sessions will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Feridun M. Emecen, TÜBA Honorary Member. Speakers include experts from numerous universities and international institutions. This initiative aims to contribute to the international scholarly literature through detailed analyses of leaders who shaped Turkish and world history.
The project continues TÜBA’s earlier studies, "Genghis Khan and His Legacy" and "Amir Timur and His Legacy." Following the workshop, a volume prepared by an editorial board will be presented to the public. This event will enhance the scholarly value of interdisciplinary research on Babur and the Mughals, underscoring its academic significance.
